Subproject 3: Digital Humanities

Subproject 3 explores how data about and from European radio collections can be best integrated and analysed using digital tools. It contributes to discussions conducted within the fields of media history, digital humanities and data visualisation. In this subproject, we are experimenting with and critically evaluating digital tools for the project’s data (i.e. tool criticism). Using selected tools, the data will be enriched by the research finding from subprojects 1 and 2. Historical developments over time and space will be visualized.

The main outcome of this subproject is a database of the historical holdings of the RRG (Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft, or German Broadcasting Corporation) that allows researchers to track their dissemination across Europe and beyond.
